On January 11, 2008, the Steel Task Force published the State-of-the-Art Clean Technology Handbook. This comprehensive document contains information on energy saving technologies and practices in the iron and steel industry in different parts of the world.

아시아-태평양 파트너십 회원국은 세계 철강 생산에서 차지하는 비중이 거의 50퍼센트에 달한다. 철강실무그룹은 파트너십 내에서 재활용 증가와 함께 최상위 기술, 사례 및 환경관리시스템의 도입을 촉진할 것이다. 본 실무그룹은 온실가스와 다른 배출 수준을 감소시킬 수 있는 기회와 관련하여, 우선 중국과 인도에 초점을 두고 기존 기술과 신기술의 도입 및 다른 기회를 확인함으로써 전문가들이 자문을 제공하도록 도울 것이다. 활동은 개선된 벤치마킹과 보고, 에너지와 물질효율 및 기술개발과 보급에 초점을 둘 것이다.
목표
- 철강부문과 관련한 벤치마크와 성능지수 개발
- 철강기술의 우수사례 도입을 촉진
- 회원국의 철강과 관련한 회원국 정부, 연구계 및 산업계 사이의 협력 증진
- 철강생산으로부터 비롯된 에너지 사용, 대기오염, 온실가스 배출을 줄이는 공정개발
- 회원국들 간의 재활용 증대
