Under the task force activity “Energy Conservation and Environment Protection Technology - Application of Plasma Ignition Technology in Power Generation,” China Guodian Corporation hosted the first of a series of site visits during 21 – 26 January, 2006. The goal of the activity is to help power generators learn the benefit of the plasma technology.
Three engineers from NTPC Ltd visited Guodian Guodian Technology & Environment Group Co. Ltd (Guodian Kehuan). Guodian Kehuan is an advanced technology group Co. Ltd under China Guodian Corporation. Guodian Kehuan’s key business is on energy saving, environment protection, information technology and renewable energy for the power industry. Guodian Kehuan owns the advanced technologies plasma ignition and stabilization, flue gas desulphurization and DCS control, with many successful reference projects in China.
China Guodian Corporation (China Guodian) is one of the five largest nationwide power generation groups approved by the State Council of China in the power industry restructuring. China Guodian, a state-owned enterprise, engages in businesses development, investment, construction, operation and management on power generation. By 2005, China Guodian owned a total installed capacity of 35,060 MW including 31,010MW of coal fired capacity with the rate of 88.45%. China Guodian plans to have an installed capacity of 80,000MW by 2010.
NTPC Ltd is the largest power generation company in India. Their total installed generation capacity is 26,400MW, with a coal fired capacity of 21,390MW. NTPC is undertaking a major capacity addition program to increase installed capacity as part of the Government of India’s program to add an estimated 100,000MW during next five years.
During the visit, Guodian Kehuan described in detail the plasma ignition technology and FGD technology and their market applications in China. NTPC engineers visited Yantai Longyuan headquarters a (subsidiary company of Guodian Kehuan), workshop, laboratory and one of its reference plants at Penglai. NTPC visited Guodian Longyuan headquarters (a subsidiary company of Guodian Kehuan) and one of its reference plants. During the week long visits and interactions, the following ideas were discussed:
