Asia-Pacific Partnership Buildings and Appliances Taskforce

Harmonization of Testing Procedures Building Codes Workshop

Kangnam Novotel Hotel, Seoul, Korea 16th July 2007

As a project of the Buildings and Appliances task force, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, the Korea Energy Management Corporation, and the Korea Institute of Construction Technology co-hosted a project 6 (Building Codes) team meeting in Seoul on 16 July 2007.

The goal of this project is to enhance mutual understanding of each country’s building energy code, with the ultimate objective of increasing international trade among building industries as well as developing and improving each member country’s own code.

13 participants from 6 partner countries were invited to discuss and confirm the work scope of the Building Codes project. Participating countries reported their project status, and they also discussed next steps, future meetings and reporting timelines. Importantly, the working organizations of each member country for project 6 were determined.

Along with the project 6 team meeting, some time was allocated to discuss other building projects, particularly project 7 - High Performance Buildings and Development (HABAD). A proposal for a web-site and database for HPBAD was made, and an Australian delegate presented an opportunity of AP6 to be a sponsor participant of the World Sustainable Buildings Conference, SB08, in Melbourne, 21-25 September 2008. The project 7 team has decided to recommend Green Buildings Flagship in Beijing: an Agenda 21 Building, an Olympic Village Zero Energy Building and a Mayors Training Center Building as flagship project.
