2-6 March 2009 - San Francisco, California USA
During the week of March 2-6, 2009, as part of the Asia-Pacific Partnership (APP) Power Generation and Transmission Task Force’s action plans, U.S. utilities Pacific Gas and Electric and NextEra Energy Resources (FPL Group) in cooperation with the Edison Electric Institute led the initial Asia Pacific Partnership Power Generation and Transmission Task Force’s technical information exchange program concerning wind electric generation. This program was developed in a manner that focused on the perspectives of a purchaser of wind energy, an operator/ developer of wind generation and an integrated system operator. There were over 50 delegates, observers and presenters that attended the event (a list of attendees is attached). The individuals attending the conference represented Canada, China, Japan, India, the Republic of Korea and the United States.
The Wind Electric Generation Event of March 2-6, 2009, met the overall objectives set forth in the project proposal. These included a focus on the perspectives of a purchaser of wind energy, an operator/ developer of wind generation and an integrated system operator and overall government policies. Information was provided that will assist experts in Partnership countries in the identification of opportunities for generating wind electric energy and transmitting the energy in an efficient manner.
The delegates called for continued interfaces with a future full meeting in the near future. Follow up areas that had the most interest included:
